1 out of 5 stars Teaser   September 5, 2010

I paid $2.39 for a sample for another book. This was not very clear when ordering. If you are interested in reading this book, don't buy this, instead buy the "real" book.

1 out of 5 stars Not Fair To The Reader....Especially If You Paid For It!   August 22, 2010

I gave this book one star because even though it was very good the description should have explained it was a teaser for the series. It ended abruptly and you are left hanging...until you buy the series.

4 out of 5 stars Soul Screamers starting off with a scream   July 20, 2010
Candace Birt (Albuquerque, NM)
My Soul to Lose is the story of Kaylee Cavanaugh, who has the unenviable "gift" of seeing signs that someone is going to die very soon. Not only does she have to deal with the stresses every teenage girl has, she sees writhing shadows whenever she's around someone who's not long for this world. One of her screaming panic attacks is very public and she ends up in a mental hospital. Kaylee knows she's not crazy and does everything she can to get herself out again. But the question becomes, is she safer in the hospital than she would be out of it?

This teen fiction novella (available free for Kindle) is page-turning and nail-biting. In the short time you are in Kaylee's world you feel her terror, despair and her hope, all her emotions. I felt pulled along for the ride. This is the prequel to the Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent and I say it has started off with a bang- or should I say a scream?

4 out of 5 stars Good Teaser . . .   July 12, 2010

I can't understand all of the 1 star reviews complaining that it stops right when the story is getting good. The author plainly states in the product description that this is a novella prequel to three full length novels already written. The point is to get a reader hooked so they will spend the money to buy the full length book. And I was definitely hooked. I just finished the novella and immediately bought My Soul to Take. The writing is good, the authors hooks you into the story quickly, and even though the story is about a teenage girl and probably written for young adults, I think it is a good summer read for adults. Something that is an easy read with a page turning plot. My personal favorite 1star review complains that there is too much description for the plot. Ummm, okay. If this is too much description, than the plot of the entire Twilight series can be summed up in less than a paragraph. And Harry Potter in a page. That is the point of a novel. The author should draw you into the world they have created through their descriptions. You should be in Lakeside with Kaylee, smell the hospital smells and feel her confusion and frustrations. This author does a fantastic job of this. So far, I am a fan and I look forward to reading the full length novels.
