Product Description Bestseller Patterson's 14th Alex Cross thriller doesn't follow up on the plot threads left dangling in 2007's Double Cross concerning still-on-the-loose serial killer Kyle Craig. Instead, Cross, a Washington, D.C., police detective, takes on a very different quarry-a human monster known as the Tiger with ties to the African underworld. When the Tiger and his teenage thugs butcher writer Ellie Cox, her husband and children in their Georgetown home, Cross is devastated because Ellie had been his girlfriend in college. The Cox family massacre proves to be just the first in a series. Cross pursues the Tiger to Nigeria, where the profiler finds himself at the mercy of corrupt government officials who may be working with the Tiger. Spending less time than usual exploring his villains psychological backstory, Patterson delivers an atypical tale of James Bond-style revenge. Craig's brief cameo toward the end suggests the series will resume its usual path in the next book. (Nov. 17)

People are way too harsh in their reviews July 1, 2010 J Scott Page I enjoyed this book. In fact, I read it very quickly. The plot moves fast. Liked the Africa setting. Was it perfect? Was it Patterson best? No. Would I recommend it to other? Yes
My Cross Country Run June 30, 2010 MJ I just finished Cross Country. Thought it was good, but Patterson has definitely written better. It was a fast read and some parts were entertaining, but I felt as if many of the action scenes were repetitive...as if there wasn't enough meat left in the storyline to write about anything else. I had picked it up at the airport because I wanted a book to read on the plane. But, I guess, that's what it's good for. It's not necessarily a great vacation book, but it helps pass time.
Waste of time and money June 6, 2010 Aleta R. Wilson (Alexanria, VA) Wish I had read buyer reviews before spending my money on this book. I've certainly read many of Patterson's books before and bought this one with the belief it would be as good as others. The story is unbelievable. It is gratuitously bloody and gross. The storyline of a policeman leaving the US to track a murderer in Africa is absurd and becomes even more absurd, twisted, and totally unbelievable as it unfolds. The only reason I continued to read it was because I was hopeful that it would turn into a good book. I was very mistaken. This book should immediately go into the remainder bin. Don't waste your money on this one.

While I enjoyed "Cross" by Patterson & it was sent in a timely fashion by this seller I did order "Cross Country". Invoice stated it was Cross Country also.
Don't waste your time!! May 27, 2010 history buff This was totally disappointing as an Alex Cross story and as a work of James Patterson. We suffered through to the end hoping to find the Patterson and Cross of past reads/listens and never did.
We know that life in Nigeria, etc. is terrible but we read/listen to the Alex Cross series to be entertained not to receive a lecture on life in Africa. If we wanted that all we need to do is turn on the TV.
Don't waste your time or your money!!
