The shadow is drawing late September 4, 2010 Peter Ingemi (Worcester County, Massachusetts United States) I have always had two things that may be related, a very tough beard and a hatred of shaving.
I've never forgotten year ago when dual blade razors first came out Mad magazine came had a parody issue joking about how if two blades are good 3, 4 and five blade razors are even better. I didn't think I'd actually ever been shaving with one.So when Amazon offered the new Schick Hydro 5 razor I decided to give it a try.
It's kind of odd when you've been shaving with a disposable blade with a cheap handle to be using this razor, the feel is different, the angle is different and the shaving surface is wider than I've ever used.
When I finished shaving, really wasn't all that impressed until I looked at my face the next day. I am a guy who has a fast growing beard, 5 o'clock shadow usually comes by two. This razor cuts very close, I could see the difference on my face and my wife liked it.
That last bit, "the wife liked it" is the clincher. I don't care to shave, my wife hates the beard. If I'm going to use a razor the result has to please the reason for it. It does.
If the Schick Hydro can help an old man like me get girl, then it is definitely worth the price
Loved it! September 3, 2010 W. E. Phillips (USA) I ordered this razor for my husband, and he raved about it (something he rarely does!) The things he really liked are:
-the fact that the razor tilts so that you can get a close shave
-the flip trimmer allows you to trim sideburns
-the hydrating gel reservoir lasts a long time and prevents against irritated skin
I believe this is a razor he will be sticking with!
Surprisingly close shave September 3, 2010 Stephen Hayden (Landover, MD United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First, you need to know I used this to shave my head so your mileage may vary. When I got this, I was being lazy and had gone 9 days without shaving, instead of shaving every other day. I was too lazy to cut my hair very short with a trimmer like I usually do after a growth stint. So I knew this wouldn't be a fair test, but it would be a hard one.
So after my shower and an astringent shampoo to clean my hair before shaving, I looked at the razor. The white spots look almost non-existent. But it immediately started covering my head with slime. Normally I use foam or occasionally soap to shave. Never gel. So gels may feel like this. But this felt like I was touching a slimy fish. And my head was coated thicker than I usually put on soap. And running the razor over my head felt like smooth plastic was rubbing against it. This has 5 blades, and 4 & 5 blades tend to clog shaving my head. I usually use a 3 blade razor with plastic between the blades to clean them. So when I ran this past my water-saving shower head and all the hair washed out, I knew it wasn't doing its job.
After shaving all over my head the same way and the amount of time I normally did, I decided I should be done. I couldn't really tell, because my head was slimy, but I knew I should be ready for disappointment since it was too easy. I rinsed off the slime and my head felt smooth! This had to be a mistake. I went to the mirror and wiped off the steam and dried it. My head was perfectly shaved! After my hair was too long and it was super easy to do. I used it 2 more times, each 2 days apart, my head still gets slimed, it feels like nothing and the blades are spaced far enough apart so the hair washes out with no effort on my part. And the little white slime dots still look the same. I don't know how long they will last, but the results are awesome.
This is the best razor I have used to shave my head.
Awesome! Smooooooooth shave, no clogging! September 3, 2010 MagicSkip (Marriottsville, MD) This razor is SMOOOOOOOTH!!! The skin softener thingy works great and feels great. This is the first four or five blade razor that I've liked any better than the good three-bladers. One of the best features is that the blades are open in the back, so that the removed stubble doesn't clog up the blades, it goes right through.
I received this free, but I WILL buy replacement cartridges for it.
Husband likes it September 3, 2010 plyopowerd (MD) I gave this to my husband to try - normally he uses a Gillette Mach 3 - and he liked it. I asked him if he had a preference between the two, and he said no. So, shop by price! That strip does make his face nice and soft.
