2 out of 5 stars Works as described, but very prone to interference.   July 31, 2010

I bought this adapter because I recently purchased a Plantronics GAMECOM 367 headset, which uses analog inputs. I prefer USB mics, but it was at a good price. I figured I'd get this adapter and be set. When I plugged in the adapter, Windows 7 detected it fine, and did its thing. However, when using my microphone, I was constantly transmitting a squeaking noise, like the squeaking of a turning wheel. I tried to minimize background noise, turned off ceiling fans, etc. The only conclusion I can come to is that the device was somehow picking up interference from the fans inside my actual computer. When using the analog inputs without the device, I heard no more interference. The noise sounds like something turning rapidly around a bearing, which is why I draw that conclusion. I suppose you get what you pay for, I'm glad I'm only out four bucks.
